Next Generation Ship Repair

Engineering for ship repair and conversion

Engineering forms the basis for safe and feasible work. At Next Generation Shiprepair, engineering is closely connected to practical execution at the shipyard. Designs, calculations and safety plans are developed with practical execution in mind, allowing the work to be carried out efficiently and in a controlled manner.

Engineering with a focus on practical execution

An older vessel does not automatically need to be replaced. In many cases, conversion or refit can offer a good alternative. A careful assessment of the vessel’s condition provides insight into what is technically feasible and economically viable.

Next Generation Shiprepair works closely with you from the very first enquiry. Together, we assess which components can be retained, what needs to be modified and how the vessel can be upgraded for a new or different role.

Design of special structures

For conversions, refits and specialised work, standard solutions are not always sufficient. Next Generation Shiprepair designs bespoke structures tailored to the vessel’s existing structure and intended application.

The design process takes into account loads, safety, feasibility and future use. Design and execution are closely coordinated to ensure that structures are not only technically sound, but also practical in operation.

Options for A-frames and side poles

Next Generation Shiprepair has experience in designing and integrating structures such as A-frames and side poles. These structures are used for specific tasks and require careful technical planning.

For each situation, we assess which solution is appropriate, how it can be safely integrated into the vessel’s existing structure, and which calculations are required to verify its design. This results in a structure that fulfils its intended function and complies with the applicable requirements.

Safety plans

Clear safety plans are essential for many types of work. Next Generation Shiprepair develops safety plans for a wide range of activities on board and at the shipyard. These plans provide an overview of risks, working methods and control measures, and form the basis for carrying out the work safely.

The plans are practical and tailored to the specific circumstances of the vessel and the work to be carried out. This ensures that everyone involved understands how the work should be carried out safely and in a controlled manner.

Calculations as a basis for safety and reliability

Reliable engineering begins with thorough calculations. Structural, load and stability calculations form the basis for designs, structures and safety plans. These calculations help ensure that solutions comply with applicable standards and classification requirements.

By linking calculations directly to the design and execution, a clear and workable plan is created that supports safe and reliable execution.

Strategic location

Based in Lauwersoog, right on the Wadden Sea

The Next Generation Shiprepair yard is located in Lauwersoog, right on the Wadden Sea, with direct access to the North Sea without having to pass through any locks. This location provides short approach and departure routes, making the yard easily accessible to vessels operating in the northern Netherlands and across northern Europe.

The combination of location, site layout and in-house expertise enables efficient planning and helps minimise downtime.
